In this step you:
- establish the short-term disability plans
- define these plans (for example, the durations of the STD periods)
- assign illness types to STD and LTD absence types
Activities
To establish a short-term disability plan for a particular group of employees, proceed as follows.
- Choose New entries.
- On the subsequent screen:
- enter the plan number of your choice and a description.
- select the relevant STD quota, if your company uses the Quota component of Time Management
- select the Illness permission checkbox if your company does not use the Quota component (See Note below.)
- select the relevant Illness quota if your company uses the Quota component
- define the time gap permitted between two related absences
- define the time gap permitted between two unrelated absences
- enter the number of hours that constitutes a work day
- Note:
If your company does not use the Quota component, then you can determine the number of illness days an employee takes before STD starts in the Plan Definition screen of this activity.
- Save your entries.
To define the plan you create in the procedure above, proceed as follows.
- Choose Plan Definition in the navigation area of the screen.
- On the subsequent screen, enter the details for the short-term disability periods.
- Save your entries.
To assign illnesses types to STD and LTD absence types for the plan you defined in the previous procedure, proceed as follows.
- Choose STD-Illness Definition in the navigation area of the screen.
- Assign the relevant illness types to STD and LTD absence types. For example, if an employee is entitled to 10 paid illness days, before short-term disability starts for him or her, these illness days must first be used. In this case you would enter the illness type for paid illness in the Ill. type column and short-term disability absence type in the A/A Type column for this employee's personnel subgroup. This ensures that if an administrator attempted to record an short-term disability absence before the paid illness days were taken, the system would return an error message.
- Save your entries.
