Use

In this step, you configure the following two kinds of data for use by your enterprise during Employment Equity Act reporting:

  • ... designated group types - for example, Aboriginal Peoples and Visible Minorities, among others.
  • ... designated groups within those group types - for example, Inuk and Métis (among others) for Aboriginal Peoples, and Chinese and Korean (among others) for Visible Minorities.

Any number of designated group types - and designated groups therein - can be configured in this step.

Standard settings

As delivered, the standard system features the following four designated group types, all of which are used in conjunction with the Additional Personal Data infotype (0077):

  1. Aboriginal Peoples
  2. Visible Minorities
  3. Persons with Disabilities Group
  4. Source of Survey Data

Within these standard designated group types, the following standard designated groups are delivered:

  1. Aboriginal Peoples

    01 North American Indian/First Nations
    02 Métis
    03 Inuk

  2. Visible Minorities

    01 Black
    02 Chinese
    03 Filipino
    04 Japanese
    05 Korean
    06 Non-White Latin American
    07 Oceanic
08 South Asian / East Indian
    09 Southeast Asian
10 West Asian / North African
11 Non-White West Asian, North African, Arab
    12 Person of mixed origin
    13 Others

  3. Persons with Disabilities Group

    01 Co-ordination of dexterity
    02 Mobility
    03 Vision
    04 Hearing
    05 Speech
    06 Other Disability

  4. Source of Survey Data

    01 Electronic survey
    02 Paper survey
    03 Application data
    04 Staffing process
    05 Other

The designated groups defined within the first three standard group types appear, respectively, on the Aboriginal Peoples, Visible Minority and Persons with Disabilities tabstrips of the Additional Personal Data infotype (0077). The entries defined within the fourth standard group type appear in the Source of Survey Data field on that infotype.

Activities

  1. Execute this IMG step.
  2. On the subsequent screen, review the designated group types already contained here. If needed, you may enter additional, customer-specific designated group types on this screen. Keep in mind, however, that the standard system, as delivered, only uses the four designated group types delivered here in conjunction with the Additional Personal Data infotype (0077).
  3. When you have reviewed the designated group types in your system, highlight the row of any designated group type, then choose Designated Groups, at left.
    1. On the subsequent screen, review the designated groups already contained within the selected designated group type. If needed, enter additional designated groups for this designated group type.
    2. For instance, if you have selected the designated group type Persons with Disabilities Group, review the six standard entries listed above. If these standard entries are sufficient, no action is needed. If you wish to enter additional designated groups, as illustrated in the example that follows, then you may do so here.
  4. Return to the Designated Groups screen and repeat steps 3 and 3a until configuration is complete.
  5. Save your entries, then proceed to the next step of the Implementation Guide.

Example

In the standard system, the designated group type Persons with Disabilities Group uses the designated group Co-ordination of dexterity to record all employee disabilities that are related to dexterity. Suppose your company wishes to differentiate among a number of these disabilities, rather than limit itself to the single standard entry. In this case, you could create four additional, customer-specific designated groups within the designated group type, as shown below.

  1. Aboriginal Peoples
  2. Visible Minorities
  3. Persons with Disabilities Group

    01 Co-ordination of dexterity
    02 Mobility
    03 Vision
    04 Hearing
    05 Speech
    06 Other Disability
    07 Carpal tunnel syndrome
    08 Arthritis
    09 Hand prosthesis
    10 Arm prosthesis
