In this step, you can specify the grace periods and regulations, often referred to as carenzdagen/jours de carence.

The maximum number of days allowed for grace day calculation is displayed. Only if the absence period is lower then this number of days, a grace day can be taken into account.

Examples

If a worker is unable to work during a continuous period of less than 15 days, the first absence day is not paid. This is called a grace day. The period of guaranteed wage starts the following day.

If the worker gets sick a second time and the number of days between the two sickness periods is lower than 15 days, we talk about repeated sickness. In that case, the grace day is still counted for, even if the sum of the two periods exceeds 14 days.

If the worker/employee's seniority doesn't exceed 1 month, sickness is booked, but no guaranteed wage is paid: absence type Z8, corresponding to the 08 absence valuation (similar days ), is created.

Standard settings

The standard SAP R/3 System contains the normal legal regulation, which stipulates that grace day can only be taken into account if the absence period is lower than 14 days. In some sectors or labour committees, however, this number of days is decreased. Even if these regulations are commonly known, they are not part of the standard SAP settings.

Activities

Check if the carenz day regulation of your company is different from the standard SAP R/3 settings. If so, change it.
