Use
In this IMG activity, you can make different settings to improve performance in MIC Reporting.
You can use the following functions to improve performance:
- Reporting Buffer
If you activate this function, the system determines - using a regularly scheduled background job - all the data for all report types that exists at the given time, and places this data in the reporting buffer. When a user calls up a report, the system reads the data from the buffer.
The data is stored based on the timeframe, so that the data for all report types for a timeframe are stored in a buffer.
In this IMG activity, you can specify that you generally want to use reporting buffers in reporting. You can create a buffer for each timeframe and then fill it with data.
- Requesting reports
In the Reporting Web application, a user can request a report. The report data is then determined in the background, and after completion, it is made available to the user by means of a work item.
In this IMG activity, you can call and process a list containing all reports that are in reporting, including detailed information on the reports.
These two functions are not related in technical terms, but each in its own way is intended to reduce waiting times when you call reports.
Requirements
Standard settings
Activities
Proceed as follows:
Using Reporting Buffer
- Choose Settings for Reporting Buffer and make the following settings:
- Activate the reporting buffer.
- Specify how the system should behave in case of error, meaning when there is no data in the buffer.
- Under Cleanup, you specify how many old versions of a report you want to retain in the reporting buffer, and how long they should be retained as backup copies.
- Create the reporting buffer under Create Reporting Buffer -> Create and specify the timeframe and the year.
Under Create Reporting Buffer, you can also monitor the status of the reporting buffer.
- Supply the reporting buffer regularly with new data by choosing Fill Reporting Buffer -> Execute in Background and scheduling program FOPC_REPORTING_BUFFER to be run regularly.
Display Requested Reports
- Enter the selection criteria you want to use for selecting existing, requested reports.
You receive a list containing detailed information on each report.
- You can delete individual reports, close a work item for a report, or transfer it to another user.
