Use

The application framework for SAP Master Data Governance (MDGAF) requires that settings be made for certain profile parameters. Note that incorrect settings most likely cause problems, such as program terminations or memory bottlenecks.

One of these profile parameters is the following:

abap/shared_objects_size_MB

This parameter determines the size of the storage area in which the system creates the ABAP Shared Objects. This parameter is stored in the memory layout of the application server and cannot be dynamically changed. For more information, see the documentation of this parameter in Profile Parameter Maintenance (transaction RZ11).

Requirements

The profile parameters must meet the following requirements for MDGAF.

Profile parameter abap/shared_objects_size_MB

You should reserve about 200 to 300 megabytes of Shared Objects memory for a medium-sized system for the MDGAF. This is merely a rough benchmark. This value increases by requirements for other software layers (for example, Basis), for which no assertion can be made here. For more information, see the documentation of the respective software layer. Should a memory bottleneck occur, you can adjust the parameter at any time.

Note:

Keep in mind that other application layers may have their own requirements, in which case the parameter values you choose will have to reflect a suitable compromise.

Standard settings

Activities

Make suitable settings for the profile parameters discussed on all application servers and restart the servers.
