Use

In this Customizing activity you define the use of the application help (SAP Library) in the Help Center.

Hiding the Link to the Application Help

In the standard setting, the Help Center contains the link to the help assigned to the application. You can hide the help link in the Help Center. This applies to the whole client. The application help contains indispensable information, especially for administrative applications; therefore, you can keep the link to the application help for individual users. SAP delivers a user parameter for this purpose.

Caution: The search function can only search the available SAP Library if the link to the application help is shown in the Help Center.

Searchability of SAP Library and SAP Glossary

In order for the Help Center search function to access the SAP Library and glossary installed for the system, the SAP system needs either:

  • Information about the storage path
You must define a logical path in the SAP system that links to the physical path to the network folder in which SAP Library is installed. To establish the connection between the installed SAP Library and the Help Center, enter the logical path here.
  • Information about a Web server
    Enter the relevant HTTP connection.

Indexing SAP Library

Since the search uses Enterprise Search and TREX, it is necessary to index the data. Before SAP Library is indexed for the first time, the system performs a preparatory analysis of the data. This indexing preparation is a prerequisite and forms the basis of the indexing. If you want to perform indexing for a new version of SAP Library, you must first reset the indexing preparation of the old version. This reset procedure, which can take a few minutes, deletes the old analysis results so that the indexing procedure can perform indexing preparation for the new data.
