Use
In this organizational activity, you are provided with the steps using which you can add non-HR user-defined fields. You can add:
- User-defined fields for case management objects (related to assessments, test logs, issues, and remediation plans)
- User-defined fields for other non-HR objects (such as questions, surveys, rules, and so on)
You can define the fields as either single value or multiple value. Each category of user-defined fields is stored differently within the database structures. Single value fields use use-defined includes in the entity tables. Multiple value fields use separate user developed tables that are defined according to the given rules and naming conventions.
Requirements
You have the S_DEVELOP authorization profile or an equivalent one.
Standard settings
You must first test all changes in the development system before transporting them to the test and the production systems.
Note: The changes do not cause conflicts with upgrades since they are not considered to be modifications of the delivered SAP standard.
Activities
The following activities are for the example of adding two fields to the case object: one field contains the calendar date; the other field contains a value chosen from a fixed set of options.
Perform the following Customizing activities in the given order:
- Modify the ABAP Dictionary
- Use Data Elements to Enhance the Data Storage for Single Value Fields
- Use Data Elements to Enhance the Data Storage for Multiple Value Fields
- Check User-Defined Fields
- Maintain New Fields in the Web UI
- Include the Non-HR Fields in Online Reporting
