Use

In this Customizing activity, you can monitor which area instances exist in the system for Process Control and in which version.

The following areas are relevant:

  • Organizational Hierarchy: CL_GRPC_SHM_ORGUNIT_AREA
  • Account Group Hierarchy: CL_GRPC_SHM_ACCGROUP_AREA
  • Indiract Entity-Level Control Catalog: CL_GRPC_SHM_MCONTROL_AREA
  • Central Process Catalog: CL_GRPC_SHM_PRGROUP_AREA
  • Processes of the Organization: CL_GRPC_SHM_ASSIGNMENT_AREA

If one of these areas appears in the initial screen, this means that at least one user is accessing an object belonging to this area. Consequently, all other users are not reading the data from the database but from the Shared Objects Memory.

Caution

You should activate the shared objects memory to improve performance only after the upload of master data has been completed, since activation may adversely affect the performance of data loads into the system.

Requirements

Activities

By double-clicking an area in the initial screen, you can display details about which area instances are available. For example, you can see the timeframe for which the area instance is valid and which versions exist.

For more information, see Help -> Application Help -> ABAP Shared Objects -> Shared Objects - Access -> Shared Objects Access to Area Instances -> Shared Objects Monitor - Transaction SHMM.

Example

After the activation of shared objects memory, the system retrieves the object from a shared area, rather than regenerating the view. This saves time and effort. These shared areas are refreshed periodically.
