Use

In this Customizing activity, you can maintain the message class and text for the custom task names. We maintain the task names in message classes because message classes support inclusion of variants, such as &1, &2, and so on.

Requirements

  • You have read and completed the steps in the Customizing activity Overview for Maintaining Custom Task Names.
  • You have determined the following:
    • Position of the task in the Task List
    • Parameters to include (if any)
    • New text for the task name

Standard settings

Activities

Do the following to create a message class and maintain the message short text:

  1. On the Message Maintenance screen, in the Message Class field, enter the name of the message class, such as ZTEST_TASK, and then choose Create.
Note: The Z denotes the customer namespace.
  2. On the Messages tab page, maintain the message short text in the relevant row.
For example, on the InboxTask screen the task occupies position 57, then in the Message Maintenance table, the text must occupy row 057.
  3. To add parameters, insert them into the message short text as variants.
    For example: "057 Assess Design of Control for 1:&1, 2: &2, 3:&3."
The variants &1, &2, &3 represent Orgunit Name, Object Type and Object name.
  4. Save your entries.
