Use

In this organizint activity, you create user-defined fields with unlimited length by creating subtypes for data storage of long text fields. You must complete this activity if you want end users to maintain the fields.

Activities

You can create custom fields with unlimited length, as follows:

  1. Start transaction OOSU.
  2. Choose New Entries, and enter the following details:
    • Infotype 1002
    • New subtype ID in the customer namespace, for example, starting with Y or Z followed by three more characters or digits
    • Subtype text; this can be later translated and is also used as the field label on the UI
  3. Press Enter and select the newly created row.
  4. Select Time constraint.
  5. Choose New Entries, and enter the following details:
    • Object type; where you want the long text to be attached
    • Infotype 1002 and newly defined subtype
    • Correct time-constraint; most likely 1
  6. Press ENTER to save the data.

    A warning message appears with details about usage of the SAP-reserved object types. You can ignore the message.
