Use

In this activity, you define the steps for your workflow and define which task the processor needs to perform for the individual types of steps (for example, check or approve).

Requirements

You have made the Customizing settings for the workflow.

Standard settings

SAP delivers workflow step numbers that are suitable for the standard workflow templates, which are also delivered.

Activities

To define a workflow step number, assign a step type to each workflow step number.
The step type determines which tasks (such as approve or reject) the user is able to perform in the step; it also determines whether the user has the options for processing the master data.

Example

You want to insert a new step into the workflow called Approval by the Executive Board, which is to be run only in certain cases. To do this, you proceed as follows:

1. Create a new step number for the workflow.
2. Specify the step type Approve.
3. Modify the workflow template so that the new step is called under the desired conditions. When doing this, you use the new step for the change request using the functions of the business object for Master Data Governance.
4. To the step number, assign the organizational unit for the executive board as the processor. To make this assignment, use one of the following Customizing activities:
• Assign Processor to Workflow Step Number (Simple Workflow)
• Assign Processor to Workflow Step Number (Advanced Workflow)
