In this IMG activity, you define the following:
- Installed base categories. Each category represents a business task. The table with the installed base categories is the central control table for installed base management.
- Permitted components that can be assigned to installed bases for each installed base category.
- Installation rules for each installed base category, defining which components may be assigned hierarchically to one another.
Example
Requirements
Standard settings
The following installed base categories are defined in the standard system:
- Installed base category 01 is reserved for the installed base.
- Installed base category 02 is reserved for the variant configuration.
- Installed base category 03 is reserved for the object structure.
- Installed base category EQ is reserved for the equipment imported from the SAP R/3 system.
- Installed base category IT is reserved for IS-T telephone numbers.
- Installed base category IU is reserved for technical objects for IS-U.
- Installed base category CM is reserved for Case Management.
Recommendation
Do not make any changes to table entries for specific industries in the standard sytem.
To structure the installed bases and customer objects, you can use installed base category 01, or if necessary copy it.
Activities
- Define which permitted components may be assigned for the installed base category selected.
- Define the installation rules for the installed base category selected. To do this, enter the classes of components in the fields: Upper Class and Lower Class and select the Yes field as appropriate. The example shows you possible options:
Example
Installed Base Category Upper Class Lower Class Yes Meaning
01 CL_IBASE_CRM_OBJECT No components may be assigned at a lower level to a component of type 'Individual Object'
01 CL_IBASE_CRM_OBJECT CL_IBASE_CRM_OBJECT X One component of the same type may be assigned at a lower level to a component of type 'Individual Object'.
The two sentences are to be viewed in conjunction with one another. The first sentence defines that no components may be assigned at a lower level to a component of type 'Individual Object', except for another component of the same type because this is explicitly allowed in the second sentence.
