Use
In this Customizing activity, you define the project types you want to use in your project and make settings specific to these project types. If you create project types, you have to give the project management users who will use these project types authorization for them. All users have authorization for the project types supplied by SAP.
Requirements
In order to define time units for project types, you selected the allowed time units in Customizing for Project Management by choosing Basic Settings -> Define Time Units.
Standard settings
Activities
- Assign a project category to each project type and enter the time unit you want the system to display as the default value for planning work for tasks.
- Note:
- Select the functions you want to use for this project type. For information about each of the functions, use the field help.
Note:
- Subsequent changes
- If you change the project types you are already using, objects that were already created are still displayed, even if the changed project type no longer allows this. If documents, collaborations, object links, or control plans exist for an object, you can still create, change, or delete these objects for a project element. If you made the setting With Summary Tasks for a project type in the settings for task hierarchies and now make a different selection, the summary task function still remains active in all projects that were created with this project type.
- Dependencies between settings for accounting integration and for confirmation
- If you use accounting integration, you set up a controlling method in Customizing for the connected ERP system by choosing Define Controlling Scenario. In doing this, you create the account assignment elements for a project type. Make sure that the controlling method does not contradict the settings you make here under Confirmation.
- Enter all roles you want to be available for this project type under Role Types for Project Type.
- Note:
- Enter all phase types you want to be available for this project type under Phase Types for Project Type.
- Enter all task types you want to be available for this project type under Task Types for Project Type.
- Enter all checklist types you want to be available for this project type under Checklist Types for Project Type.
- Assign the appropriate users the authorization to use the newly-defined project types by assigning the project type in the relevant role to the authorization object CPRO_PTYPE (transaction PFCG).
