Use
Field control enables you to tailor the field properties of SAP fields and your own fields to your requirements. In this Customizing activity, you set up the field control.
You can influence the following field properties:
- Private: Field is not visible
- Can Be Displayed: Field cannot be changed
- Changeable: Field can be changed
- Required Entry Field: Field must be filled
You can create multiple different conditions for one field. For more information, see SAP Note 1287150.
Requirements
- You have created your own fields, as required (see the Enhance Database Tables Customizing activity).
- You have executed the DPR_CUST_FLDS_IN_FC_MAP report.
The Webdynpro interface uses the API structures that were newly defined for Release 4.00. The field mapping between old and new API structures is defined in the DPR_FC_MAP table. The DPR_CUST_FLDS_IN_FC_MAP report also adds the additional customer fields to this mapping table. This means that field control is then also available for the additional customer fields.
When you execute the DPR_CUST_FLDS_IN_FC_MAP report, you only have to create the structure with the customer include, for example, DPR_TS_PROJECT_EXTENDED_ATTR.
Standard settings
SAP supplies the default setting 0SAP. Note that this is for display purposes only and cannot be changed.
Activities
To define your own field control profiles, proceed as follows:
- Copy the default setting 0SAP to your own profile in your namespace.
- Define the field control for the new profile in the individual views. The Object Category in Field Control view gives you an overview of all the object categories for which the field control is available. Do not make any changes here.
Note that you must not make these settings unless you have appropriate background knowlege. The simplest way is to assign your own fields only to a field group in the Assign Fields to Field Groups view or to change the group to which the SAP fields are assigned. Note the following:
- Each field can only be assigned to one field group.
- You can only assign a field to a field group with higher authorization requirements, for example, you can assign a field from the Changeable with Write Authorization field group to the Changeable with Administration Authorization field group but not the other way round.
For information about the other views, see the Configuration Content in SAP Solution Manager.
- To use your field control for a project type, assign it to a project type (see Customizing for Project Management Define Project Types).
