Use

In this Customizing activity, you define field groups for your customer fields according to the project element and the project type.

Once you have defined a field group and have set it as active, a tab page with the customer fields appears in Project Management at the level of the selected object category. This tab page contains an extra lower-level tab page for each field group and the fields that are assigned are displayed here.

If you want to use this function for checklist templates in the front end, in the Field Groups per Project Type view, leave the Project Type column blank.

Note: When there is no entry in the Project Type column, the front-end system displays the tab page for the defined project element. You can restrict the display by defining additional records for this project element with an existing project type.

Requirements

You have defined customer-defined fields in Customizing for Project Management under Enhance Database Tables.

Standard settings

Activities

Set the Active indicator at the end of each of the following steps:

  1. Define field groups for the required object categories. You can create any number of field groups for an object category.
  2. Assign the appropriate customer fields to each field group.

    Note the following:

When you enter tasks and checklists in a table, the system only displays one row of the text each time with the Text Editor field type; you can also scroll up and down by row.

The system does not support the Search Help field type for entering tasks and checklists in tables. Fields with the field type Search Help are available in the column selection, but the available values are displayed in a dropdown listbox instead, if the following conditions are met:

    • An elementary search help has been assigned to the field.
    • The number of values selected is smaller than the maximum number of hits which is 200.

If these conditions are not fulfilled, there is no input help for the field.

  3. Specify which field groups appear in which order on the tab page of a project type.

The name of the field group with the lowest sequence number is used as the name of the tab page with the customer fields. In order to use the field group name as the name of the main tab page without having to display it as a lower-level tab page of your own, proceed as follows:

    1. Create an additional field group without fields.
    2. This has the effect that the field group is not displayed.
    3. Assign the lowest number to this field group
    4. This has the effect that the name is used for the main tab page.
