Use

In this step you assign a life event to a workflow event. You need an assignment like this if, for example, you want the system to start a workflow for certain personnel actions, in order to record the corresponding life event. In addition you specify whether you want the system to trigger the life event one day before the workflow event.

Example

Your awards plan specifies that if an employee leaves the enterprise, all his or her awards are forfeited and can no longer be exercised.

You depict this situation in your system by assigning the event COMPANYLEFT of business object type BUS1065 (employee) to a life event for which you have selected the Award Forfeited field in the Set Up Changes Due to Life Event step.

If that setting is made, the workflow process started when an employee leaves the enterprise looks like this:

  1. When an employee leaves the enterprise, the workflow event COMPANYLEFT is triggered. The system starts a workflow and checks whether the employee has received awards.
  2. If the employee has awards, the system sends a work item to the administrator responsible.
  3. When the administrator executes the work item the system starts the life event transaction with the default values from the Set Up Changes Due to Life Event step, in this case Non-Exercised Awards are Forfeited.
  4. When the administrator saves the default values, the award is forfeited from the date of the life event, and the employee it belongs to can no longer exercise it.
