Use
In this step you define exercise windows, in other words the periods during which your employees can exercise certain awards.
Often, several exercise windows are valid for a particular award. To depict this situation you need an exercise window rule, with which you group the exercise windows that you want to be valid for a particular award.
For the exercise windows belonging to a rule you can specify different periods for each exercise group.
Requirements
- You have defined exercise groups, or are using the exercise group defined in the standard, which includes all employees.
- You have decided which exercise window rules you need.
- You have decided which exercise windows with corresponding exercise groups should be valid for each rule.

Example
In 2003 you introduce an awards plan. All your employees are allowed to exercise the stock options granted to them after a waiting period of 3 years. They can exercise in the two years following the waiting period, always within the four weeks following publication of the quarterly results. Your quarterly results are published on January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15 of a given year.
You depict this situation by making the following settings:
Exercise window rule:
Key Text
4WQE0608 4 weeks as of quarterly results in years 2006-08
Exercise window:
Exercise group Text Start End
ALL All employees 15.01.2006 12.02.2006
