Use
In this activity, you make the required settings for assignment of numbers to student object IDs.
Requirements
You have defined whether or not number assignment for HR object types applies to all plan versions.
You can perform this activity in Customizing for Campus Management in the section Basic Settings -> Number Range Maintenance -> Set Up Number Assignment for All Plan Versions.
This is a cross-application setting which may be changed only after consulting all affected departments.
Recommendation
We recommend you use object type-specific number assignment for the object type student (ST).
A detailed description of the activities required for number assignment configuration is found in Customizing for Campus Management in the section Basic Settings -> Number Range Maintenance -> Maintain Number Ranges.
Example
You have defined that number assignment applies to all plan versions in your system. To set up an internal number range for object type-specific number assignment for object type ST, proceed as follows:
- Choose New entries.
- Enter the subgroup $$ST.
- Choose Save.
A data screen for maintenance of number range intervals appears.
- Choose Insert interval.
- The system displays a dialog box.
- In the dialog box, enter IN for internal number assignment, and specify the lower and upper limits of the interval (e.g. 00000001 to 99999999).
- Choose Insert, and save your entries.
Further notes
The system creates an object of the type study (CS) for student data that refers to a program. You also have to create an internal number range for this object type. You can then set up number assignment for the object type CS like you did for the object type ST.
You do not have to set up an external number range for the object types ST and CS. Only internal number assignment is allowed for the object type CS. For the object type ST, you can use external number assignment if you use BAPIs to create student master records, except with the dialog transaction Create Student Master Data.
