Note

You normally process this IMG activity when you make the system settings for the academic calendar (see Customizing for Campus Management under Campus Management Master Data -> Academic Calendars -> Academic Years and Sessions -> Set Up Session Groups). If one of these session groups contains the assessment sessions you require, you do not have to create a new session group here.

Use

In this IMG activiy, you define the session groups you want to use in the following applications:

  • Admission and registration

    You need session groups when you define the session variants (see the IMG activity Define Session Variants in the Campus Management Processes section).

  • Module booking

    You can combine the academic sessions which are relevant for module booking to a session group.

  • Program type progression

    You can assign a session group to each program type. You make this setting in Customizing for Campus Management in the IMG activity Assign Session Groups to Program Types.

  • Academic records

    You can combine the academic sessions you want to use as assessment sessions in the academic records application to a session group. If a session group which you created for academic calendars already contains the academic sessions you require for assessments, you do not have to create a new assessment session group for the academic records application.

Note

If the academic sessions in a session group are valid for several applications, you do not have to create a separate session group for every application.

Requirements

You have defined the required academic sessions in the previous IMG activity.

Activities

  1. Enter a three-digit numeric key and a description for each required session group.
  2. Assign the relevant academic sessions to each session group.

    You can assign an academic session to more than one session group.

Example

The students at your university can register for the Mathematics program in the following academic sessions:

  • Winter semester
  • Summer semester

You assign these sessions to the session group you want to use in the session variant of this program.
