Document
Document Class | SIMG | Hypertext: Object Class - Class to which a document belongs. |
Document Name | CM_XX_336 |
In this IMG activity, you define the unit of measurement for the module value. You must make this setting if you want to calculate fees on the basis of the module value instead of on the number of credits.
The fees that students must pay for a module can be calculated in two different ways:
- The fee can be calculated on the basis of the number of credits assigned to the module. This can be the minimum, optimum, maximum, or attempted number of credits.
- The fee can be calculated on the basis of the module value. This can be the number of class hours, for example.
If you want to calculate fees on the basis of the module value instead of on the number of credits, you must define a unit of measurement for the module value in this IMG activity. Then you define the module value in the fee calculation data.
If you do not define a unit of measurement for the module value, you can then calculate fees only on the basis of credits.
Example
- Fee calculation based on credits:
You want to calculate fees on the basis of the minimum module credits. Per credit, students must pay a fee of 100 UNI. The minimum credit value for this module is 4. Therefore, the fee for this module is 400 UNI (4 x 100 UNI).
- Fee calculation based on the defined module value:
You want to calculate the fee for modules based on the number of class hours. You have defined the unit of measurement UNI and entered 10 as the module value in fee calculation data. In the condition records of fee calculation, you have specified that a fee of 50 UNI is charged for each UNIT. Therefore, the fee for this module is 500 UNI (10 x 50 UNI).
Requirements
You have set up a nondimensional unit of measurement for the module value in Customizing under General Settings -> Check Units of Measurement.
Standard settings
Recommendation
Use different names for the module value and credit units.
Activities
In the entry with the group CAMPU and the setting MVUNT, enter the unit of measurement for the module value to be used in fee calculation.
Further notes
You can create the condition records for fee calculation in Customizing for Campus Management under Student Accounting -> Fees -> Pricing -> Pricing Procedures -> Maintain Condition Records.
