In this activity, you specify which date the system should use as the start date for student master records (object student). There are two possibilities of defining the start date:
Value Start date of student master record
L 01.01.1900
B Student's date of birth
Note the following special feature:
If you create student master records using the master data maintenance dialog transaction (transaction PIQSTC which can be accessed via the menu path Student Administration -> Master Data -> Create or via Student File), it is not possible to use the date of birth as the start date for technical reasons. It is also not possible to change the start date of the student master record if you change the date of birth originally entered.

Recommendation
If your administrators create student master records using the dialog transaction, we recommend you use the default setting which is the value L (start date is 01.01.1900).
The value B should only be used if you have set the date of birth as the start date in a previous release. If this is the case, contact SAP.
Standard settings
Activities
Check if the value L is specified as the start date for the group STUDENT.
Do not choose the value B without first contacting SAP.
