This activity will define and maintain the path to UCAS UFILEOUT and UFILEIN files as well as to the files UCAS supplies for support ( Course codes, country and county codes , ..... ).
The activity will lead you to the entry screen of transaction FILE.
· Position to UCAS_GLOBAL_PATH
· Mark the entry and proceed to Assignment of physical paths to logical path
· You possibly have to create a new entry for the Syntax Group depending on your operating system
· On the next screen you have to maintain the Physical path to match the path where your UCAS files usually reside
· The entry should be of the form path<FILENAME>
The filenames will then be constructed from the following definitions:
UCAS_SUPPORT_FILE : UCAS_GLOBAL_PATH & <PARAM_1>
UCAS_UFILEIN : UCAS_GLOBAL_PATH & afin<PARAM_1>.<PARAM_2>
UCAS_UFILEOUT : UCAS_GLOBAL_PATH & afout<PARAM_1>.<PARAM_2>
Example
Logical path UCAS_GLOBAL_PATH
Name CM UCAS: Global Path to Import and Support Files
Syntax group UNIX Unix compatible
Physical path /usr/UCAS/<FILENAME>
Assuming the above definition and taking into account the following parameters:
Support file : <PARAM_1> = cod00.dat
Institution ID : <PARAM_1> = 'X01'
Institution passcode : <PARAM_2> = 012345
the resulting filenames are :
UCAS_SUPPORT_FILE : /usr/UCAS/cod00.dat
UCAS_UFILEIN : /usr/UCAS/afinX01.012345
UCAS_UFILEOUT : /usr/UCAS/afoutX01.012345

Further notes
If you want to change the construction of the UCAS filenames you will have to modify the construction rule for the filename itself ==> Logical file name definition, cross-client
for the filenames: UCAS_SUPPORT_FILE, UCAS_UFILEIN, UCAS_UFILEOUT
You should be aware of the meanings of <PARAM_1> and <PARAM_2>
