Use
In this activity, you can create a connector system in the portal. The system is entered in the Portal System Landscape Directory.
Requirements
Standard settings
Activities
To create the connector system in the portal, execute the following steps:
Create system:
- Log on to the portal.
- Start the iView System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape. The systems are maintained with the Portal Content Studio.
- Choose New -> System (from Template) -> System in the context menu of the portal content. Choose com.sap.portal.systemy.BIUDI.
- Choose the relevant system as the portal component
- Enter a name, ID, and prefix.
- Choose Next and Exit.
Maintenance of the system properties
You have to maintain different properties depending on the type of connector system.
For BI JDBC systems:
- Open the object so you can edit its properties.
- Under Connection Properties, enter the connection URL of the database with the database name (for example: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;DatabaseName=Northwind) and enter the driver class name.
- Under Type of User Assignment, enter admin,user.
- Enter a system alias in the system alias editor.
- Save your entries.
For BI SAP query systems:
- Open the object so you can edit its properties.
- Under Connection Properties, enter the application server, the message server, the client, and the system number.
- Under Query Area, specify where the data comes from. X means cross-client, and no X means client-specific.
- Under Info, enter a description and a name.
- Under Type of User Assignment, enter admin,user.
- Enter a system alias in the system alias editor.
- Save your entries.
For BI ODBO systems:
- Open the object so you can edit its properties.
- Under Connection Properties, enter the connection string.
- Under type of User Assignment, enteradmin,user.
- Enter a system alias in the system alias editor.
- Save your entries.
For BI XMLA systems:
Prerequisite: First of all, specify the connection URL of the XMLA service.
- Go to the ICM monitor.
- Choose HTTP or HTTPS as the service.
- Assemble the first part of the URL from the protocol, host name and port.
- Call transaction SICF.
- Display the XMLA service. The path of the service is displayed. Take the part of the path after /default_host/ and attach it to the first part of the URL.
- Add xmla to the end of the URL to complete it (for example: http://iwdf9484.wdf.sap.corp:54080/sap/bw/xml/soap/xmla)
Editing the properties:
- Open the object so you can edit its properties.
- Under Connection Properties, enter the URL that you specified as a prerequisite as the server URL.
- Under Type of User Assignment, enter admin,user.
- Enter a system alias in the system alias editor.
- Save your entries.
