Use

With this activity, you create an RFC destination for the TREX installation for searching in online documentation. You only need this connection when you are not using the recommended document search for the portal.

Requirements

You have installed TREX before. Before you can install TREX, you have to install the SAP Gateway. See the installation guide for TREX on the SAPService Marketplace under /instguidesNW2004s.

Standard settings

Activities

Create an RFC destination:

  1. Choose Create.
  2. Enter IMSDEFAULT as the name in the RFC destination field.
  3. Choose Connection Type T.
  4. Enter a description.
  5. Choose Save.

On the Technical Settings page, determine the settings for the RFC destination IMSDEFAULT:

  1. Choose the activation type Start on Explicit Host.
  2. In the Program ID field, enter <Name>_<ID of Machine>.
  3. Select your required option for Save (Host or IP Address).
  4. In the Target Host field - according to the selected option- enter Host Name (poss. with domain name) or the IP address of the Windows NT computer on which the Index Management Service has been installed.
  5. Choose Save.

    Example:

    Program ims_server_admin.exe

    Target host hostname.domainname

    Save as Host (selected option)

Then determine the settings for the SAP Gateway:

  1. In the Gateway Host field, enter the host name (poss. with domain name) or the IP Address of the Windows NT computer on which the SAP Gateway has been installed.
  2. In the Gateway Service field, enter the name of the gateway sapgwXX (xx=2-digit number of the SAP system). By default, this value is sapgw47 from Release 4.6B or KW 4.0.

    Example:

    RFC destination IMSDEFAULT

    Gateway host hostname.domainname

    Gateway service sapgw47

  3. Choose OK.

    Return to the previous dialog box.

  4. Choose Save.
  5. Choose Test connection.

    The RFC connection is established.
