Use
In this activity, you make various settings for the BW metadata search. Once you index the objects, they are included in the metadata search. The metadata search is used in the Data Warehousing Workbench, the BEx open dialog and in various subareas.

Activities
Indexing Metadata Tab Page:
Status of the Search Engine: The system shows whether the TREX server has been configured. In the RFC Connection field, you must enter the name of the RFC destination that you created in the Create RFC Destination for the BW Metadata Search IMG activity.
Indexing:
- Schedule Initial and Delta Indexing: You can schedule an initial indexing run or a delta indexing run. By default, these are set at five minute intervals. We recommend that you schedule indexing to take place at regular intervals because otherwise the indexing queue is too long and performance is negatively affected. Before you can schedule a delta indexing run, you have to start the initial indexing run.
- Special Functions: This option allows you to access expert mode.
You can restrict the indexing run to individual object types, object names, and languages. These restrictions are only intended for test purposes and creating prototypes.
Under Configure Object Types, you can select and deselect object types for the search and indexing run. We recommend that you switch on all object types; this is the default setting.
Monitor: You can branch to the job overview or display the logs for the initial and delta indexing runs.
Metadata Search: You can start the metadata search to check the search.
