You need to install TREX if you want to use:
- the BW metadata search
- the indexing and search in the online documentation

TREX must be installed on 32-bit architecture.
BW Accelerator is also based on TREX technology. To use BW accelerator, you need an installation based on 64-bit architecture. Hardware partners deliver this variant in preconfigured form as the BW Accelerator box. Note that you cannot use a TREX installation configured for a BW metadata search with BW Accelerator since the TREX installation is based on a 32-bit architecture. This means that you cannot use a BW accelerator box for the BW metadata search. If you want to use the search function as well as BW Accelerator, you need two separate installations.
&PRECONDITIONS&
When installing TREX, note the following:
- If the TREX server is installed along with the BW database or an application server on the same computer, you can expect a serious reduction in performance when large quantities of documents are indexed. To avoid this, we recommend installing TREX server on a separate machine.
