Use
The back-end object type is part of the key and the attributes of consolidated InfoObjects that are delivered in Business Content from BW Release 3.0B.
Consolidated InfoObjects for business partner, product, and product category are found in the BW Administrator Workbench in the InfoProvider tree beneath the 0CA --> 0GN "Generic InfoProvider" node (refer to the documentation of the respective consolidated InfoObjects).
The 4-place back-end object type combines information on the system of origin (SAP component or non-SAP system) and the corresponding business object type (for example, business partner, product) within this system of origin.
Requirements
Standard settings
SAP delivers default values for back-end object types in the BW system. These default values are fixed key parts of the consolidated InfoObjects. Therefore, you can not change or delete these default values.
The Y... and Z... namespaces are available for user-defined back-end object types.
Activities
You want to load data from your system of origin that refers to back-end objects that are not in the table. Creat a unique 4-place back-end object type in the customer namespace (Y... and Z...) with a description.
You then fill the back-end object type with the value defined here as constant in the update rules for the corresponding consolidated InfoObject.
Example
Example of back-end object types in the SAP BW system:
Back-end object type, name
1MAT R/3 Material
1PRO CRM / EBP Product
2CUS R/3 Customer
2BPA Business Partner
ZMAT Material From User-Defined System of Origin
Updating data for back-end object type ZMAT "Material From User-Defined System of Origin" to the consolidated InfoObject "Product" (0PRODUCT):
- Create a user-defined InfoSource with flexible update that delivers master data (attributes) or text on materials from your user-defined system of origin (example: ZMATERIAL_ATTR).
- Create the update rules for your user-defined InfoSource ZMATERIAL_ATTR for the consolidated InfoObject 0PRODUCT:
Enter the constant ZMAT for the attribute 'Back-End Object for Generic InfoObjects in the BW' (0GN_BWBEOTY).
