This Customizing step is necessary for template allocation for operating costs (actual) for financial objects.
Conceptual Information
In Single Transaction Costing, imputed operating costs are updated in Profitability Analysis for each financial object. A line item is posted in Profitability Analysis for each financial object. All operating costs are transferred to value fields.
For periodic template allocation (actual), the processes or cost centre and activity types are not shown at financial object level, but rather aggregated on a higher level. This means that several financial objects are posted to the same market segment.
Example
You have the financial objects "loan 1" and "loan 2". The bank product is the only aggregation characteristic. "Loan 1" and "loan 2" are aggregated in a profitability segment. The operating costs for both financial objects are cumulated in this profitability segment.
Note: For reasons of performance, only choose the level of detail which is absolutely necessary.
