In this step, you specify how the fields of the sender structure are represented in the fields of the receiver structure. If the sender and receiver structures are constructed similarly, then you will generally not need transfer rules. The contents of the fields are transferred as they are. If you want to make changes, you can define appropriate transfer rules to do this.
The transfer rules can be adjusted to meet new requirements at any time. Changes to the transfer rules do not require new transfer programs to be generated.
Transfer rule maintenance can be divided into two areas:
- Providing the characteristics of a receiver structure with data
- Providing the key figures (value and quantity fields) of a receiver structure with data.
Recommendation
You should generate a default rule and change it as required (in the maintenance mode for characteristics and key figures). The default rule establishes a 1:1 assignment of sender and receiver fields. The fields that can be assigned have a grey background. Assignments cannot be established for fields that have a red background after generation.
Requirements
You must already have defined a transfer program with a Sender Structure.
Activities
- Enter the name of the transfer program (for example, DI_OBJEKT).
- Choose Rules -> Maintenance in the menu.
- The left column Receiver Fields is preassigned. This is a result of the selection of category 140 in step Define Sender Structure.
- In the menu, choose Rules -> Generate Default Rule
- The right-hand column Sender Fields is filled with the settings defined in step Define Sender Structure.
- Choose Save. This causes a 1:1 transfer between the sender and receiver fields.
- Choose Back.
Further notes
SAP recommends that you keep the sender structure the same as the receiver structure and you ensure you have the corresponding format in the data selection programs.
If the sender structure of your external system cannot provide the default structure, you can change it, if necessary.
