Use

In this Customizing activity, you define portfolio types. The portfolio type is a required attribute of a portfolio definition. What you define here determines the display of portfolio data in the front-end application. View types are configured with respect to portfolio types.

Requirements

You have done the following, by choosing Define portfolio item types:

  • Linked decision points to item types
  • Defined the object status values

Standard settings

There is no default configuration, but SAP delivers a single default portfolio type ADM.

Activities

Defining Portfolio Types

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. In the Portfolio Type and Portfolio Type Text columns, enter a portfolio type and a suitable description.
  3. In the FV column, choose a fiscal year variant having 12 periods. The system uses this fiscal year variant for all objects under a portfolio of this type.
  4. In the Transfer Type column, choose the appropriate entry.
  5. Save your changes.

Portfolio Fields Override

You can define the user interface configuration for Portfolio Management objects based on the portfolio type. These settings control the way in which the fields are represented and processed in the user interface. They are only valid within portfolios of the selected portfolio type and override the default field configuration delivered by SAP as well as the portfolio-independent custom field configuration.

By assigning an authorization activity in the Activity column, you can override the settings for a particular activity only, or create multiple entries for one field. As a result, the field will be handled differently depending on the authorization of the user accessing a Portfolio Management object. For example, a particular field can be ready for input for a user with Admin authorization for this object, whereas it is read-only for a user with Write authorization.

Note: The object type BUPA is not supported as it is portfolio-independent.

  1. Check the portfolio-independent user interface configuration in the following Customizing activities:
  2. Where necessary, override these settings for individual portfolio types, by making the corresponding entries in the current Customizing activity.

Portfolio Items Override

You can define the field configuration based on the portfolio type and item type. This overrides the default field configuration delivered by SAP and the settings you have defined under Portfolio Fields Override.

The field settings defined here determine the display of the field attributes in the front end, for the item object and for the specific item type specified here.

  1. Select the portfolio type and double-click Portfolio Items Override.

  3. In the Object Type column, select the object type "RIH" from the dropdown box.

  7. In the Required column, select the value from the dropdown box.
