Use

The customs authorities have their own compulsory classification of packaging material types which they record in a customs code list. SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS) uses the same packaging material types as the customs authorities. In this activity, you assign the packaging material types from the feeder system to the packaging material types in SAP GTS.

If several feeder systems have the same packaging material types, you should assign the packaging material types at the level of the feeder systems group.

Activities

You can choose between an automatic or manual assignment of the packaging material types.

  • Automatic Assignment of Packaging Material Type
    • Review the automatic assignment after the transfer to make sure it has been carried out correctly.
      We recommend using the automatic transfer only for the initial transfer of packaging material types from the feeder system. This guarantees the accuracy of the transferred data.
      If you want to test the automatic transfer of the packaging material types and their assignments, choose the simulation mode.
    • Specify the feeder system and the customs code list.
    • Specify the packaging material type from the feeder system. The system automatically adds the description of the packaging material type.
    • The system automatically assigns the packaging material type from the feeder system to the SAP GTS packaging material type.
    • You can overwrite all data that you have transferred and assigned from the feeder system. To do this, choose Overwrite Existing Records.
  • Manual Assignment of Packaging Material Type
    • If you want to change existing data or data that has been transferred automatically, you can choose the relevant line to change the required customs codes.
    • If you want to create new entries, you can assign packaging material types manually by choosing New Entries. Choose the logical system, the packaging material type of the feeder system, the customs code, and the packaging material type for SAP GTS.
