Use
In this IMG activity, you define the mapping rules between customs code lists for one and the same object, for example, for the type of mode of transport or package types. You require the assignment because different authorities or countries can assign different codes for the mode of transport "commercial truck", for example. If, however, you remap the customs code lists, you can always use the same code for "commercial truck" in the application. When sending messages to the customs authorities, the system uses the conversion table to determine the correct code for the country and customs authority.
In addition, you can use this IMG activity to convert codes of one legal requirement to another legal requirement. You require the conversion for a procedure transition within SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS). For example, if you attach an import procedure after a transit procedure with presentation, you change the legal requirement. The customs code lists for the two legal requirements are different when it comes to the package types, for example. By converting the keys, however, you can still transfer the data from the previous document to the following document.
Note: You can only ever maintain the code list whose framework was assigned to a legal requirement (see Prerequisites). If you want to assign the entries to more than one framework, you have to check the assignment of the framework to the legal requirement and change it if necessary before you can make any entries in this activity.
Requirements
You have completed the Define Procedures for Customs Code Lists IMG activity.
