Use
In this IMG activity, you edit the customs code lists for a legal regulation. This helps ensure compliant communication with the customs authorities, which require encoding of all information regarding your goods movements using the officially designated codes from the customs code lists. The entries in the respective customs code lists also control the constraints for the input help to restrict possible entries to those relevant for the current work area.
To minimize the manual maintenance effort in systems without transport connections, you can export the entries from these tables to a file and then import them into another system, or import the XML file from another system to the tables of the current system. This function also lets you make direct changes to the content of the XML file. When you save the customs code lists for a legal regulation, the system includes all the language versions in the XML file. When you upload the customs code lists to the system, you have to specify the language version explicitly. You can also choose between the following processing modes:
- Insert data
- Insert and replace data
- Delete and replace data
For more information about the processing modes, see the field help.
Requirements
You have completed the IMG activity Define Procedures for Customs Code Lists.
Standard settings
The default settings for the activity already contain customs code lists for various countries.
Activities
- Define the legal regulation.
- Specify the customs code list and choose Start Maintenance.
- When you choose New Entries in the next screen, you can enter the required values for the selected code list, for example, the customs status with a description.
- If you enter the code list for package types, for example, you then have to perform one of the following IMG activities:
- Assign Packaging Material Type at Feeder System Level or Assign Packaging Material Type at Feeder System Group Level
- If you have defined package types as shipping packaging in the code list, you have to assign the packaging material types in the feeder system to the officially required codes for package types in the code list.
- Derive Package Type from Sales Unit
- If you have defined package types as sales packaging or containers in the code list, you can use the derivation of the package type from the sales unit in the feeder system.
- Decide whether you want to import an existing customs code list (from an XML file) to the system or save the entered customs code lists in an XML file. File imports and exports do not affect the activities for the manual entry of a customs code list.
