Use

In this IMG activity, you define messages for your communication processes (for example, document printing or EDI messages). You also define additional attributes of a message:

  • Description
    Description of the message in words, which later appears in the document (for example, export declaration)
  • Responsibility
    If it is a message that you generate (outbound) or a message that you receive (inbound)

    - For EDI messages only -

  • Action definition
    Outbound messages must be assigned to a corresponding PPF action, using which technical processing takes place.
  • Message type
    Only relevant to inbound messages. The message type determines whether the message relates to an error in a previous message, whether there is an interim notice, whether the previous message is closed, or whether it is a downstream message.
  • Message category

Standard settings

The standard SAP System already contains various messages that are defined for national processes (for example, for the legal regulations NCTS, ACE, ATLAS). You can assign these messages to the delivered processes in the IMG activity Define Control Settings for Communication Processes.
