Use

In this activity, you define number ranges for business partners. The following business partners are used in SAP Global Trade Service (SAP GTS):

  • Organizational units (foreign trade organizations, legal units, administrative unit)

We recommend configuring external number assignment for your own organizational unit.

  • Customs business partners (customers, vendors)
  • Data providers
  • Customs offices
  • Agents (business partner that is a person)

The defined number ranges are assigned to the groups in the activity Define Groupings and Assign Number Ranges. This is an activity from the standard Implementation Guide for the SAP Business Partner.

Number ranges for business partners are valid across a client.

If you intend to connect SAP GTS to SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver BI), SAP GTS transfers the business partner data to SAP NetWeaver BI. SAP NetWeaver BI uses the standard InfoObject (technical name: 0BPARTNER) to store the business partner data.

The business partner data for the standard info object 0BPARTNER in SAP NetWeaver BI can come from SAP GTS as well as other applications and/or systems. You can prevent business partners from overlapping in standard info object 0BPARTNER by assigning different number ranges to business partners from different systems. You should therefore check your business partner data on a system-wide basis and change the delivered number range settings for business partners.
