Use

In this IMG, you activate the content service where the system stores documents. The application calls the content service via HTTP to store documents. The Internet Communication Framework (ICF) provides the environment for the HTTP calls in the SAP system's work process.

Document storage is relevant in the following areas for SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS):

  • Attachments in electronic communication

Incoming electronic messages from the customs authorities may have PDF files as attachments. When the customs authorities send you a release message for export declarations, for example, they can attach the export accompanying document (EAD). You have to save the document and can also forward it as an e-mail attachment. In any case, this EAD must accompany the goods for export during its transport to the office of exit. To receive these attachments in the official EDI messages and use them in process handling, the system needs to store the documents using the content service.

  • Upload files

SAP GTS lets you purchase the data you need to conduct your cross-border trade from a data provider as an XML file and upload it to the system - for example, sanctioned party lists, preference agreements, customs offices, and numbering systems for product classification. To document the reason for its decisions for the customs authorities, the system saves the uploaded files from the data providers in a database or on a content server. The system uses an HTTP call of the content service to access the document store.

Requirements

Before activation, you have to create a user with type "Service". You then have to assign this user to the "Content Server" service.

Standard settings

Activities

  • Choose Execute and follow the following path in the IFC tree under Virtual Hosts/Services: default_host -> sap -> bc -> contentserver.
  • Select the contentserver entry and choose Activate service from the context menu.
