To help support your implementation project for SAP Customs Processing for Automated Export Systems (SAP Customs Processing for AES) for electronic communication with customs authorities in Germany, this document contains a classification of all the IMG activities that are contained in the project IMG. The IMG activities are divided into the following activities for this classification:
- Required activities with manual effort
You always have to carry out these IMG activities manually in the implementation project, because they contain enterprise-specific settings. These include, for example, the model of the organizational structure, feeder system connections, and the mapping of feeder system entities to values in SAP Customs Processing for AES.
The essential IMG activities with manual effort are contained in the Best Practices document in the implementation project for SAP Customs Processing for AES.
- Required activities with coverage through delivery Customizing
These IMG activities are essential to modeling the processes defined in SAP Customs Processing for AES. However, none of these IMG activities requires manual processing, because the necessary settings are already fully contained in the implementation Customizing.
The Best Practices document in the implementation project for SAP Customs Processing for AES does not contain any descriptions of these activities, because the required settings are already configured in the delivery. If you would like to see more information about these IMG activities, you can use the Configuration Guide for SAP Customs Processing for AES.
- Optional activities
These IMG activities contain settings for additional functions within process handling or for the extended functions in SAP Customs Processing for AES.
- IMG activities for additional functions within process handling can include settings for UI controls or for data entry, for example.
- Examples of IMG activities for the extended functions include the activities for product classification within SAP Customs Processing for AES. The standard processes in SAP Customs Processing for AES assume that the classified products, along with their dependent data, are retrieved from the feeder system on a transaction-specific basis. If you want to use SAP Customs Processing for AES to classify the products centrally, in all your feeder systems, you have to configure additional classification settings.
These IMG activities already contain delivery Customizing. If you use the functions that you can configure with the optional activities, you are responsible for ensuring that the delivery settings meet your specific requirements.
The Best Practices document in the implementation project for SAP Customs Processing for AES does not contain any descriptions of these optional activities, because these settings are not required directly for process handling. For information about possible settings in the optional activities, see the Configuration Guide for SAP Customs Processing for AES. It contains descriptions of all relevant IMG activities for SAP Customs Processing for AES.
The Best Practices for the implementation project of SAP Customs Processing for AES and the Configuration Guide for SAP Customs Processing for AES are available at the SAP Service Marketplace, under service.sap.com/swdc --> Download --> Installation and Upgrades --> Entry by Application Group --> SAP Application Components --> SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) --> SAP Customs Processing for AES --> Installation and Upgrade.
List of All IMG Activities from the Project IMG and Their Assignments to the Areas Defined Above
