Use

In this Customizing activity, you define the fields (columns) to be displayed in the dashboards in the front end. You configure based on the work area, that is, navigation context (work center and object instance floorplan (OIF)), and on the object type of the dashboard, that is item, initiative, and so on. This activity includes the following views:

Dashboard Fields per Dashboard Type

You can define which fields are displayed in the dashboard of the object type. You can define if the field is displayed as a link for all dashboards of the same type. You define the maximum number of fields that are available in the front end.

Dashboard Fields per Context

If you maintain these settings, the system overrides the settings for the Dashboard Fields per Dashboard Type view.

Depending on the dashboard context, you can define the fields that are visible in the SAP List Viewer (ALV) for a specific dashboard including scope, role, parent object, portfolio type, and so on. For example, if you define fields for the dashboard of items with the scope Inactive, then the dashboard of items with the scope Active is not overridden.

You can override these settings in the front end in the ALV personalization.

Dashboard Metric Fields per Context

Depending on the context, you can define the metrics that are displayed in a specific dashboard of items or a specific dashboard of initiatives. In the dashboard, the metric and the value type are displayed in one column that combines the two metric fields (Metric and Value Type). However, in the Deliverables subview, for example of the item details, both metric fields are displayed in separate columns. You can also display KPIs that are assigned to a metric in the Metrics subview of the Deliverables view.

Additionally, you can define if the following fields are visible:

  • Unit
  • Status
  • Trend

Alternative Column Header for Metrics in Dashboard

You can define an alternative column header text for the metrics column (Metric and Value Type) to be displayed in the dashboard of items or the dashboard of initiatives.

Portfolio Type: Dashboard Fields per Portfolio Type

In this view, you define which fields are displayed in dashboards of the object type when called within portfolios of the selected portfolio type. You also specify whether the fields should display as a link.

The portfolio-type-dependent field configuration overrides the default field configuration of the object type maintained in the Dashboard Fields per Dashboard Type view. Note, however, that any settings made in the Dashboard Fields per Context view override the portfolio-type dependent configuration.

In this view, you define the maximum number of fields available in the front end. These settings can be personalized using the ALV settings on the user interface.

Requirements

Standard settings

SAP delivers a set of standard fields configured for all object types in the Dashboard Fields per Dashboard Type view.

Activities

  1. You enter the work area and the object type of the dashboard you want to configure.
  2. You enter the field name for the chosen object type.
  3. Optionally, you define the dashboard fields depending on the context.
  4. Save your settings.

Note: If the ALV dashboard is already running in a configured view that does not contain a custom field, you have to configure this field in the back end (Customizing), and then add the field in the personalization of the front end by the end user.

Example

You want to have the Project Description, ID, and Status fields displayed as visible fields on the dashboard. You define the following UI configuration for the dashboard or items:

You enter the following for the item with object type RIH:

RIH - PROJ_DESCRIPTION

RIH - EXTERNAL_ID

RIH - STATUS
