Use
In this Customizing activity, you define the speed of onset for risks. The speed of onset refers to the time horizon in which you expect the risk to occur. This time horizon can change over time, becoming less as the risk event comes nearer. In this way, you can define several values for the speed of onset, as it changes over time.
The speed of onset can help you determine which risks are likely to occur soonest and therefore need more urgent action than other risks. This means that you can use the speed of onset to help assess the risk event.
You specify numeric values for time periods in which action is required to respond to a risk. These values are used in determining risk response times. The following are standard values, which you write into the description field:
- Short = 1 to 3 years
- Medium = 4 to 5 years
- Long = more than 10 years
Note: An organization should ensure that all risk assessments are made over the same period of time.
You must also enter a numeric score for rating the speed of onset. This is used for calculating the speed of onset if data is entered in the application using the scoring method. The scoring data is then also available in RM reporting.
