Use

In this Customizing activity, power users can create objects for the central structure setup as well as objects specific to organizations and make various assignments. This activity also assists you in locating errors.

You must use the Expert Mode to create the first two nodes of the organizational hierarchy. Create the first node at the corporate level and a second role underneath it. Then you must assign a user to a role that contains the task ASGN-RLORG for the corporate node. Thereafter, you can maintain the organizations through the Portal.

The Expert Mode does not provide any Process Control-specific flow logic or any automatic connections. The Portal interface offers the advantage that many objects and their connections are created automatically by the system. In the Expert mode you must create the objects individually. For example, all objects specific to organizations are perceived in the Expert Mode as separate objects that you need to create and connect to the central objects. In the Portal, the objects specific to an organization are created automatically when you assign them to the organization. However, for locating errors, the Expert Mode offers the advantage that all objects and their connections can be called up individually.

Creating an Organization at the Corporate Level

  1. To create an organization at the corporate level, set up the top node organization in the SAP system.
  2. Ensure you are in the Change mode (Pencil) before continuing.
  3. Select the Calendar above the Organizational Hierarchy area.
  4. Select the Start Date for your organization structure and choose Execute. This provides the default Start Date of your organizational structure and also controls the relationship date between your organizations.

Note: The Start Date may be the beginning of the fiscal year in which you wish to start tracking compliance activities. Also, leave the default To date as unlimited (for example, December 31, 9999).
  5. From the menu, choose Edit.
  6. From the dropdown list, select Create Organizational Unit from the dropdown list.
  7. On the Create Organizational Unit screen, verify the validity dates and populate the following fields:
    • Object abbr. – Enter an abbreviated name for the organization.
    • Name – Enter a name for the organization.
  8. Select the Find by dropdown list and choose Organizational Unit.
  9. In the search field, enter the default wildcard (*) and choose Find. The organization you created appears.
  10. In the Hit List, double-click the organization you created. Your new organization displays in the Organizational Hierarchy, and the details of the new organization display on the lower screen.
  11. Right-click the organization you created in the Organizational Hierarchy and choose Create to create one node underneath it. This creates a new node named New organizational unit and displays it in the detail screen.
  12. Edit the fields in the new node.
  13. In the Create Organizational Unit screen, verify the validity dates and populate the following fields:
    • Object abbr. – Enter an abbreviated name for the organization.
    • Name – Enter a name for the organization.
  14. Save and exit. The top node is automatically recognized as the corporate level. You must save your work and exit in order for the system to recognize the corporate node.
  15. Navigate to the Setup Structure: Expert Mode.
  16. Select your top node (corporate) in the Organizational Hierarchy and choose the Roles tab page.
  17. To assign a user to the role for creating corporate hierarchies, select Internal Control Manager (assuming you are using the delivered BC set roles), from the Role dropdown list.
  18. In the Person field, select the person you want to assign as the internal control manager from the dropdown list. You can search from a list of individuals by clicking on the Search icon beside the field.

Note: It is only through the IMG that you can assign a person to this initial corporate-level role (the top node of your hierarchy). If you are creating your own poweruser role, verify it is a corporate-level role with the task ASGN-RLORG assigned. This task enables the user to assign roles.
  19. Choose Save and then exit.

The organization is available through the portal. You can create additional organizations as subnodes to these organizations through the portal.
