Use

In this Customizing activity you can determine for each order type and also at item level how the system should issue appointments. So you can select one appointment booking type per order type. The system distinguishes between the following types of appointment booking:

  • Automatic creation of assignment for the resource planning node
With this type of appointment booking, the system creates the demand and assignment automatically when scheduling an appointment at the earliest possible time within the resource's appointment time frame, that is, the resource is allocated automatically to the order.
  • This appointment booking type is only supported for PM and CS orders. CRM orders are not supported.
  • Resource capacity
With this appointment booking type, you can deploy internal and external time-based resources as well as external service providers for the resource planning of orders. The system selects appointments using the available resource capacity. With time-based resources, this comes from work schedules or shift schedules, or based on time frames.
  • Resource planning node capacity
This capacity is based on capacity pots. A capacity pot is formed by the total available daily capacity in minutes of the resources of an allocated resource planning node. The system selects appointments within the availability of a resource planning node.
In the system, the qualification category must have an SAP Multiresource Scheduling qualification profile allocated to it. HR qualifications are not supported. You cannot use a qualification category for CRM orders. The capacity must be managed at the resource planning node level.

You can also have the resource planning node capacity and resource capacity appointment booking types run consecutively. To do so, enter the sequence as follows:

Order type    Operation type    Appointment booking type    Sequence number

PM01    PM01    Resource planning node capacity    1

PM01    PM01    Resource capacity    2

In this case, the system looks first for resource planning node appointments. If the resource planning node is not able to offer any more appointments, for example, because the internal, time-based resources of the resource planning node are being used to full capacity, the system then looks for external service provider appointments.

A prerequisite is that in this case the resource capacity contains only external service providers and no internal, time-based resources.

No other sequence combination is supported.

You can use only one operation or position per order for booking appointments. Appointment booking for several operations is not supported.

The appointment booking does not consider any relationships between operations.

Dependencies

If you use capacity pots, select the scenario that corresponds with the selected appointment booking type, also for the capacity pots in Customizing underSelect Scenario for the Use of Capacity Pots.

You will find more information in the application help under Information About the Company -> Administration and Management -> Appointment Booking -> Manage Capacity Pots.

Requirements

For the resource planning node capacity, you have created capacity pots in transaction /MRSS/POT_CREATE.
