Use

In this Customizing activity, you define profiles that control how the planning board behaves.

Requirements

In Customizing for SAP Multiresource Scheduling, you have configured the following settings:

Create Worklist Profile

Define User Interface Profiles (UI profile)

Define Check Profiles

Define Alert Profiles

Standard settings

SAP delivers the planning board profile ST_R3 as standard.

Activities

Create planning board profiles and define the settings according to your requirements. For information on the individual fields, see the field help (F1) for the individual fields.

Notes on Day-Based Scheduling:
To create day-based assignments, configure the following settings:

  • Under Maintenance of Scheduling Engine Profile, select the Day-Based Sched. checkbox. For more information, see the field help (F1 help).
  • Under Time Unit for Day-Based Scheduling Profile, enter a unit of time for day-based scheduling (for example, a unit of time for a working day).

If you want to make day-based scheduling the default when assignments are created in the planning board using drag and drop, you must activate this at UI profile level. You do so in Customizing activity Define User Interface Profiles (SAP GUI planning board) and Define Profiles of the Web-Based User Interface (Web-based planning board).

If the assignment follows demand function has been activated in Customizing activity Activate Assignment Follows Demand Function or Activate Assignment Follows Demand Function (ERP), the assignment dates cannot be changed in the planning board. For more information, see the documentation for the respective Customizing activity.

Notes on Setting the Time Granularity:
Case 1: You work with multiple planning board profiles and integrate demands with different origins. Ensure the following:

  • The time granularity of the shipped standard profile must be 1 minute.

Only this ensures that the assignment times and travel times are transferred correctly by the system when the planning board is saved.

The standard profile is used for forward integration of demands. This also applies to the calculation of travel times. This means, when you create an assignment for a demand in the planning board and use a planning board profile different to the standard profile, the granularity of the standard planning board profile is still used when the planning board is saved and during forward integration of the data from SAP ERP to SAP Multiresource Scheduling. The assignment times and travel times are rounded according to the granularity of the standard profile.

Example: In the planning board, you create an assignment for a PM demand. The assignment time is 42 minutes and each of the travel times is 18 minutes. The underlying planning board profile has a granularity of 6 minutes. When the planning board is saved, the transfer of assignment data to the SAP ERP system is triggered automatically and granularity of the standard profile is used as a basis. If you had maintained a granularity of 15 minutes in the standard profile, for example, the assignment time would have been changed to 45 minutes and the travel times to 15 minutes automatically during forward integration because the duration in this case may only be 15 minutes or a full multiple thereof.

  • For demands from SAP ERP (such as PM/CS orders): The time granularity of the other planning board profiles used must be 6 minutes or a multiple thereof.

This is necessary because the duration of operations or activities, and of demand assignments in SAP ERP, are specified in hours with one decimal digit.

Example: You create a PM order with a duration of 1.3 hr = 1 hr 18 min.

  • In the Customizing activity Define Determination of Planning Board Profile, you have created a wildcard entry for the resource planning node (<*>) and assigned it the standard planning board profile that is shipped by SAP.

Case 2: You work with one planning board profile and integrate demands from an SAP ERP system. Ensure the following:

  • The time granularity of the planning board profile used must be 6 minutes or a multiple thereof.

This is necessary because the duration of operations or activities, and of demand assignments in SAP ERP, are specified in hours with one decimal digit.

Example: You create a PM order with a duration of 1.3 hr = 1 hr 18 min.

Notes on Automatic Assignment Split:
If you have activated the Asg. Follows Demand function for the respective demand type, an automatic assignment split does not take place because the assignments resulting from a split would both follow the demand data.

For information about splitting assignments, see Assignment Splitting.
