Use

An SAP system alias maps together:

  1. A logical RFC destination pointing to an SAP business system
  2. A Web service provider system pointing to the same SAP business system
  3. The software version of that SAP business system. The supported versions are shipped by SAP and cannot be changed.

You can map an SAP system aliases to a business object group in Customizing activity Manage GSDO Groups.

Requirements

Standard settings

The SAP system alias and the software version depend on the content that is used. See your application's documentation for this information.

Activities

  1. Click on the activity icon. The table maintenance view (transaction sm30) for the object /IWFND/V_DFSYAL is displayed.
  2. Enter the details of the system alias in the table view.

Field    Description

SAP System Alias    Name of the system alias

Description    Descriptive text for the system alias

Local GW    Specify whether the system alias points to a local GW instance

For Local App    Set this flag if the system alias is to be used by the locally deployed BEP

RFC Destination    RFC destination of the system alias

WS Provider System    Web service provider system for the Web services

Software Version    Software version of the application

It is recommended that you run the customizing activityCheck SAP System Aliases after this configuration step.

Example

A system landscape has the following details:

  • An application with its corresponding business object group APP_001 uses both RFC function modules and Web services. The SAP business system is U1P on client 005.
  • An RFC connection 'RFC_U1P_005' is created that points to U1P/005.
  • A Web service provider system 'Pro_Sys_U1P_005' is created for the corresponding Web services.
  • An SAP system alias with name 'U1P_005' is created.
  • The application's documentation states that the SAP business system corresponds to software version 'DEFAULT'.

Enter the following details to set up this system alias:
