Use

In this IMG activity you maintain the data profile that controls the list of fields available for user-defined data associated with physical objects. This data is used, for example, in the mobile user interfaces for tag commissioning and packing.

You use predefined element sets to specify the allowable fields. By assigning a certain element set to the user data profile you indicate that the fields within the element set may be used by that profile. Depending on your business requirements, you can create many data profiles and each data profile can have several element sets assigned to it.

Requirements

You must define element sets (in Customizing under Auto-ID Infrastructure -> Basic Settings -> Data Profile Settings -> Maintain Element Sets and Attributes) before you can define data profiles.

Standard settings

We deliver the profile SAP_OBJECT_CONTEXT_PROFILE which has the element set SAP_OBJ_CONTEXT_SET assigned to it. You may add new user data profiles or change the element sets that are assigned to the delivered profile.

Activities

Define Profile

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. Enter a Profile Name and Profile Description. New profile names must be in the customer namespace (that is, they cannot start with "S").
  3. Save the entry.

Assign Element Set

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. Select the Element Set Usage for your profile: either Object Data (required), or Child Object Data (only required if the object has a child object linked to it)
  3. Select the Element Set Name from the F4 list.
  4. Save the entry.
