Use

In this IMG activity, you define the internal and external issuing agency codes that SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure uses to refer to issuing agencies such as DoDAAC and EAN.UCC. You use the issuing agency code when you want to maintain company prefixes for your business partner in the SAP Easy Access Menu under Auto-ID Infrastructure -> Master Data -> Maintain Company Prefixes.

Normally you do not change or add to the delivered settings for Internal Issuing Agency Code or Map of Int. IAC to Ext. IAC; you use the delivered data. However, you must maintain Company Prefixes in the SAP Easy Access Menu because no settings are delivered.

Internal Issuing Agency Code

An entity such as Department of Defense Activity Address Code (DoDAAC) assigns codes to identify organizations such as your company that have the authority to requisition or receive materials from the US Department of Defense (DoD). We refer to entities such as DoDAAC as issuing agencies. An SAP AII ID may include the issuing agency (DoDAAC in this example) as an ID component.

The internal issuing agency code (IAC) is a two-character, alphanumeric code that SAP AII assigns to an issuing agency such as DoDAAC. For example, in the delivered data, 03 is SAP AII's internal IAC for DoDAAC. Normally, you do not need to add new internal IAC codes; you use the delivered ones. If you do add a new internal IAC, it must start with Y or Z.

Map of Internal IAC to External IAC

Groups such as the International Standards Organization (ISO) assign code names to issuing agencies such as DoDAAC. In the delivered data you can see that ISO assigned the code name LD to DoDAAC. With respect to SAP AII, ISO is an external issuer of IACs. We refer to the code names that ISO assigns (such as LD) as the external issue agency code (external IAC). The screen Map Int. IAC to Ext. IAC displays all the delivered mappings of the Int. IACs to the ISO-assigned IACs. Normally, you do not need to change or add more entries to the delivered ones.

Relationship to ID Types

In the IMG activity Maintain ID Types you define the various ID type/encoding type combinations (such as EPC_1.30/DoD1-96 and UII/CNSTR1EID). You tell SAP AII about the segments of that ID type/Encoding type combination and what each one represents. If one of those segments represents the issue agency, then you must also tell SAP AII which issue agencies are valid for that ID type/Encoding type combination. You do this in the Maintain ID Type dialog structure under Issuing Agency. For example, in the delivered data for EPC_1.30/DoD1-96, the allowed issuing agencies are 02 (CAGE Allied Committee 135) and 03 (DODAAC).
