Use
In this optional IMG activity you can define the number of retries and the wait times between retries that SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure (SAP AII) uses when a system conflict occurs that involves the business document, the ID, or the device group.
This activity allows you to have control beyond the standard system controls over the how SAP AII handles record locking for these three critical resources. During parallel processing it is possible that two or more transactions will require the same document, ID, or device group and will therefore compete for the same record at the same time. To prevent SAP AII from issuing an error and stopping processing when this conflict occurs, you can use this activity to instruct SAP AII to wait a certain number of seconds and then to try accessing the record again. You can also define the number of permissible retries that the system will pursue before successfully completing the transaction.

Activities
For each lock object (that is, the ID, the business transaction document, and the device group) you specify the number of retries and the wait time in seconds between retries.
Example
Assume that, in the event that the ID record is locked, you want SAP AII to retry accessing the record three times, and that you want the system to wait two seconds between retries.You would make the following entries in the Customizing table for defining retries and wait times:
- Lock Object = POBJ (Object ID)
- Wait Time = 2
- Number of Retries = 3
