Diagnosis
To test for seasonal effects, the system determines the autocorrelation function (for formulas, see the documentation in SAP Library under Automatic Model Selection Procedure 1). The absolute value lies between 0 and 1. The closer it gets to 1, the more likely a seasonal effect exists. The system maintains a limit value, under which a seasonal effect is deemed not significant. The proposed limit value is 0.30. If the autocorrelation value is greater than this value, the system reports a seasonal effect and uses a seasonal model or a seasonal trend model.
You can change the default value by using the Business Add-In (BAdI) /SAPAPO/SCM_FCSTPARA.
If you have specified that the length of a seasonal period can vary, the system selects the period with the highest absolute value of the autocorrelation function (provided that the value of at least one period lies above the limit value).
