Definition
With this indicator you define how settlement costing is to be carried out for single transactions.
Use
Settlement costing is the actual final costing of a single transaction with partial disbursements. Final costing takes place as long as the transaction has not been fully disbursed. As well as time-related changes there are normally also changes in the payments, meaning that the cash flow predicted at the time of commitment has changed. This means there is a new cash flow for this transaction. Both payments in, disbursements, and time-related changes reduce the net present value for partial payments, increase the opportunity interest and thus decrease the margin. The NPV margin and the effective interest have to be recalculated, the old settlement NPV is updated. The commitment NPV margin is not updated.
The user has the following options:
- Settlement costing in all reporting periods: On the costing key date, the all planned partial payments are added together and the difference between this sum and the amount after full disbursement is calculated. The due date is given as the day after the costing key date.
- Settlement costing only for final settlement.
- Alternative settlement costing in all reporting periods: In this case, the transaction is evaluated on the basis of the actual payments. The opportunity, however, is evaluated using the planned payments. You can calculate the interest revenue from interim investments of open commitment and to include them in the interest contribution.
- No settlement costing (periodization takes place upon commitment)
