Definition
If you set this indicator, during credit checks (during order entry and other SD transactions) the checks conducted by the FI system read the A/R summary data and not the current database.
You must set this indicator if you have sales order processing in a decentralized SD system, and you need to use FI data from the central system for the credit check. This FI data can be retrieved from the central system and sent to decentralized SD (via distribution functions) where it can then be evaluated.
A/R summary data is then compressed FI information for credit checks.
Example
Distributed Scenario
If you use a decentralized SD System, you should make sure the following settings:
- Read A/R summary: Yes
- Read A/R summary from external system: Yes or no
- Yes: The system attempts to provide up-to-date data from the FI system using Remote Function Call (RFC). It does this if the A/R summary data either does not exist or is obsolete.
- Set A/R summary: No
In the central FI system you should make the following settings:
- A/R summary: Yes or No
- Yes: Before current data (open items, dunning data and so on) is read from the database, the system reads the A/R summary data (if this exists and is not obsolete) so that the request is responded to considerably faster.
- Read A/R summary from external system: No
- Create A/R summary: Yes
- During creation of the A/R summary data (program RFCMCRCV) you must specify the appropriate distribution parameters.
Non-distributed scenario
If you use the A/R summary info to optimize system performance only (and not to model a distributed scenario) you should make the following settings:
- Read A/R summary: Yes
- Read A/R summary from external system: No
- Create A/R summary: Yes
- When you create the A/R summary data (program RFCMCRCV) ensure you set the indicator No distribution.
