Definition
A data model represents an excerpt from the complete Enterprise Data Model. It can contain entity types and other data models. Data models can therefore be nested.
Data models are identified by a unique name.
The name of a data model may contain only alphanumeric characters and the underscore ('_').

Procedure
Select modeling object Data model and enter the name of the data model you wish to edit.
If you first need to find out the name of a specific data model, you have two options:
- You can display the complete list of data models by selecting modeling object Data model, positioning the cursor on the entry field, and clicking on the arrow that appears next to the field. You can then select the data model you require from the list.
- You can call the Information System by marking modeling object Data model and selecting the menu options Utilities -> Find. You can then search generically for the data model you require by entering known attributes of the data model.

From a data model, you can branch directly to the hierarchy.
Procedure

Procedure
To go to the ABAP/4 Repository Information system and find the required object there, position the cursor on the empty input field and click the arrow on the right or press F4.
You can also make a generic entry for the name of the data model you are searching for (e.g. "uni*") and then click on the arrow to the right of the entry field or press pushbutton F4.
A list is displayed in which you can search for the data model you require. To transfer the name of the data model of your choice to the entry field, select the name and activate Choose.
Then select Continue.

Use
You assign the object type to a data model by specifying a data model. The object type becomes a "Business Object".
